I was asked to photograph at a photoshoot during Frankfurt Fashion week. Many photographers are so busy making perfect images that they forget that models need photographs for their social media. It is common to see models making their own photographs with mobile phones between sessions.
I had an hour to spare, so I ran around making images for the models.

I was setting up for a shoot and at the stage that the lighting needed testing. Arne happened to walk in and this was the result of the test.
Many people find being in front of the camera difficult. It is important to build a relationship that puts people at ease.

This shot was taken after the shoot had finished. Model Hannah asked me to take some images for her, and I was happy to oblige. This shot has a very different feel to the main shoot.

I met Seb at a famous photography art gallery in Dubai where he was the curator.
He is a naturally happy, go lucky person, but I wanted to capture how he looked when he was under pressure in the run up to an exhibition.
We shot three rolls of film, and this frame captured what I wanted to say.

Ann is camera shy to the extreme. Away from the camera, she comes across as strong and confident, and I wanted to capture this aspect of her personality.
She was walking down a corridor. All of a sudden, the light was just perfect. I stopped her. I took two images, and this is the one that best describes her.

This is one of a series of images made during a latex fashion shoot.

Photoshoots should always be fun!
This shot was taken during a corporate photoshoot for a business in the medical sector.
The idea of having everyone applying makeup came from a passing comment. But it made everyone laugh.

I wanted to capture a very different view of Dubai and spent months capturing the poorer areas on days off.
This woman exuded a sense of serenity.
Even though we live in a decade where imagery is super sharp, and perfected by Photoshop, using older photographic techniques in a less perfect way can lead to a result with far more emotion.
